![]() This is the full frame reproduction of an Alexander Gardner stereo view showing the crowd at the dedication of the National Cemetery at Gettysburg on Nov. 19, 1863, where Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address. ![]() In this detail from a tiny portion of the full photo, the unmistakable profile of Lincoln appears as he rides on horseback through a corridor of troops after arriving at the cemetery. Scroll down to see another image. ![]() In this second stereoscopic photograph, taken within about a minute of the previous one, Lincoln has moved a bit further down the corridor of soldiers, and has raised his left arm and hand in salute to them. His blurred hand is visible as the white object in front of his face. Lincoln was wearing a pair of white riding gloves during the procession to the cemetery. ![]() |
